Practice Experience
Mihlali Mdontso joined MDA Law as a candidate attorney in 2023. He completed his LLB degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2022. During his LLB studies, he worked as a student assistant for two years and was later appointed as the team supervisor for student assistants. Mihlali makes music in his free time and has worked as a music composer for some notable musicians.
As a candidate attorney at MDA Law, Mihlali Mdontso is responsible for a range of duties that provide comprehensive legal support and contribute to his professional development in the legal field. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Drafting legal opinions on various matters under the supervision of directors and associates in the firm.
- Legal Research and Analysis on standard form construction contracts like the FIDIC, NEC and JBCC.
- Drafting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, affidavits, notices and other legal documents.
- Collating evidence and annexures for litigation, adjudications, and commercial arbitrations
- Attending meetings with clients, taking notes, and understanding their legal needs.
- Maintaining communication with clients regarding developments in their matters, court dates, and other relevant information.
- Attending court proceedings to observe, take notes, and occasionally represent clients in lower courts under supervision.
- Performing general office duties such as photocopying, scanning, and managing correspondence.
- Attending training sessions and workshops to develop legal knowledge and skills.
