Practice Experience
Mihlali Mdontso is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. He joined MDA Attorneys as a Candidate Legal Practitioner in 2023. He obtained his LLB degree from the University of Johannesburg in 2022, where he also served as a student assistant for two years before being appointed team supervisor for the registration programme.
At MDA Attorneys, Mihlali assists clients, particularly professional service providers such as quantity surveyors, architects, project managers, and engineering disciplines in navigating Service Level Agreements with government entities. His work includes advising on additional professional fees arising from prolonged construction periods, extension of time claims, advising on lawful termination procedures and post-termination obligations and disputes relating to the certification of practical completion under the JBCC and NEC3 regimes.
Mihlali has experience across a broad range of construction law matters, including drafting contracts, pleadings, affidavits, notices, and other legal instruments; conducting in-depth legal research and analysis on standard form contracts such as FIDIC, NEC, and JBCC; and preparing comprehensive legal opinions. He has also been involved in litigation, adjudication, and commercial arbitration processes.
Outside of his legal practice, Mihlali is a music producer and composer, bringing creativity and discipline to both his artistic and legal work.
